What is Bridal Nutrition?

Bridal nutrition = nutrition + wellness. This is great for brides-to-be who want to look and feel the best they ever have on their big day.

Here’s the thing: brides want to look their best, but they find it hard to figure out how to start or what to do. Bridal nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as including more fruits and vegetables in your diet and engaging in exercises such as strength training, HIIT, cardio, squats, or pilates.

Brides, you can look amazing and also eat. You may feed your body in a way that makes you feel energized and focused. There’s no reason to go hungry, exhausted, cranky, or apathetic during your engagement. On your wedding day, you can not only look better than you ever imagined but you can also feel great.

Bridal Nutrition Tips

If you are a bride-to-be and confused about the right tips to follow on your D day, here are some bridal nutrition tips that may make your wedding weight loss dreams come true.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Don’t skip breakfast
  • Try as much as you can to get enough protein
  • If you can, have some fruits
  • Limit your sugar and salt intake
  • Have some fibre

1. Stay Hydrated

One of the best bridal nutrition tips is to take in lots of water. I bet you were told to drink 7-8 glasses of water a day as a child. But do you follow it?

As a result of life’s stress and pressure, it can sometimes be easy to forget to take a cup of water. However, if you happen to lose track, you can set reminders. Remember that dehydration leads to dull skin, and you need glowing and healthy skin on your big day.

If drinking water doesn’t work for you, you can opt for water-filled fruits or hydrating drinks like watermelon, cucumbers, coconut water, green tea, lemon water, herb-infused water, or citrus. Drinking more water helps you lose weight by making you feel fuller and preventing overeating. Water moisturizes the skin and also reduces appetite, which prevents overeating. Additionally, water cleanses toxins from your body and removes pimples, spots, and blemishes from your face.

2. Eat Healthily

When it comes to bridal nutrition, what you eat matters. Eat more fresh fruits, green vegetables, nuts, seeds, and protein-rich foods to get over the energy hurdle. All that jogging and working out depletes your body, so replenish it with these foods. You can also choose low-fat dairy and avoid fats like cheese, too much oil, butter, and other fatty meals. Instead of fattening foods, you can opt for some healthy alternatives.

Taking too much sugar may cause not only acne but also hormonal imbalance. Refined and processed carbohydrates, such as white sugar, can cause blood sugar levels to rise more quickly. Additionally, avoid processed meals because they contain hidden carbs.

3. Limit Alcohol Intake

Yes, your big day is coming, and your joy has no bounds. However, if you’re dead set on looking fabulous at your wedding, save alcohol for the wedding and post-wedding festivities. Likewise, if you’re finding it hard staying away from a drink, you should limit yourself to a few drinks per week. Too much alcohol can dehydrate you, and affect your sleep quality.

4. Consider carefully how you break your morning fast

I recommend eating when physical hunger kicks in, this time will vary for different people. If you aren’t hungry when you first wake up, don’t force yourself to eat. Try and establish a regular time for your first meal of the day as your body loves routine. Break the fast by including a portion of protein, healthy fats & lots of fresh vegetables.

5. Stay away from foods that make you bloat

You don’t want to look bloated on your wedding day. Not only will you find it hard fitting into your dress, but bloating sometimes comes with discomfort and pain. The week of your wedding may be one of the most stressful weeks of your life & stress can fuel bloating.

Identify your trigger foods that are best avoided in the run up to your Wedding. These may include fried foods, processed sugary snacks, processed meats, low calorie snacks, white carbohydrates, processed dairy & excess caffeine. You’ll need all of your energy to finish all of the last-minute details for your big day. Instead, you may want to try eating more lean organic meat, non-starchy vegetables, healthy fats, fresh fruits, steamed vegetables, salad leaves, fresh herbs & spices.

6. Get active

Some brides desire to “tone up” parts of their bodies – which involves adding muscle and decreasing fat. Exercise can help you burn fat and develop strength while reducing stress & releasing endorphins that will make you feel great.

The key to any workout is to choose an activity that you enjoy; whether it’s the gym, a class at a studio, or simply taking a long walk, the possibilities are unlimited, and as long as you’re not sitting down, you’re good to go! You can aim for 15-30 minutes workouts five times a week for a start. Then, with time, you can increase your progress.

Some of the things you can try to get more active are:

  • If you can, use half your lunch break for a brisk walk for 10 to 15 minutes
  • If you take public transport to work, get off one stop earlier, and walk the remaining distance

7. Yoga and meditation

When it comes to bridal nutrition, Yoga is proven to improve sleep and reduce stress levels. In the UK, yoga was perceived to impact physical and mental health conditions positively and was linked to positive health behaviours. Did you know that regular yoga increases flexibility, blood flow, and strength? Try 20 minutes per day and feel the benefits for yourself.

8. Give yourself a break

Whatever happens, no matter the pressure and stress, make a conscious decision to take some time off for rest and relaxation. It’s normal to lose track of time when you’re planning your big day but not to the detriment of your health. Your wedding is a happy time that you should enjoy fully, with no regrets.

9. Keep Healthy Snacks Ready To Eat On-The-Go

Do you feel like you’re running round at 100 miles an hour before your wedding? We’re sure you don’t have access to home-cooked food all of the time while racing around for all of the pre-wedding tasks and shopping. When you’re out and about, try to avoid junk food convenience snacks to satisfy your hunger. Instead, keep it nutritious and have fresh fruit, unsalted nuts, miso soup. Half an avocado and two organic oats cakes or a boiled organic egg are also good snack options to munch on in the office when afternoon hunger or cravings arise.

10. Cut Down Food Portions

We understand that you’re probably going insane worrying about D-day, so get some structure to your meal times (sticking to the same times as much as possible) and try to avoid constant grazing to prevent feeling sluggish. Keep a close eye on what you eat and how much you eat. You may even want to keep a food diary for a week or two, to really tune you into all the things you may be eating that are unaccounted for. Then, begin progressively reducing your meal quantities, one day at a time. After a few days, you will be accustomed to eating less and will still feel satisfied.

While these are not all the foods to get your skin looking radiant and beautiful, you may want to add them to your diet for that extra glow.

Beetroots: The anti-inflammatory properties, vitamins, and minerals in beetroot prevent acne and make your skin glow. A tall glass of beetroot juice every other day is sure to get your body rid of toxins and purify the blood.

Pomegranates– Gives you supple and baby soft skin.

Almonds: This tiny nut is packed with Vitamin E and keeps your skin youthful. Almonds can make one’s internal system clean and support skin problems like acne, pimple, blackheads, whiteheads, and so on

Tomato: The antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes prevents the skin’s ageing and gives it a natural glow. The acidic nature of tomatoes also helps keep dark spots, pimples, and acne at bay.

Strawberries: Improves skin complexion, reduces skin wrinkles and fine lines.

Kefir Yoghurt: it can help provide benefits that are wonderful for gut health and promote weight loss

Papaya: helps in faster digestion and increasing metabolism.
